Did you know that it's debatable who invented the telephone? Several people may have been first, and although only a matter of hours separated the filing of patents for the telephone between Elisha Gray (first) and Alexander Graham Bell (second) on the 14th of February, 1876, Bell had physically created a transmitter while Elisha's prototype was still in the works. Despite losing this particular race, Gray kept inventing his entire life and developed early versions of many useful things that we still use today, like electronic keyboards and FAX machines. |
