Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

"Death of a Gunfighter" finds Walt Street on a stagecoach bound for Escalante, Colorado, where he hopes to reunite with his wife after two years of living without violence at her request. When fellow passenger Ben Rawlins recognizes him as a man with a bounty on his head, a struggle ensues and Rawlins ends up dead. Walt switches identities and all is well until he finds out that Rawlins has inherited a small ranch that the neighboring Gunhammer Ranch wants. He can't sell because he's not Rawlins, but the Gunhammer crew thinks he just needs some strongarmed persuasion. Prairie Town is a "Lawless Town," a trail herd town with twenty-five saloons and no law enforcement. Sloan Hewitt and Sid Wessell ride into town with two wagons filled with buffalo hides with plans to sell everything - hides, wagons, and teams - and find a new line of work. They make a deal with a hide buyer, but are told to come back at the end of the day to get paid. After cleaning up, Sloane leaves Sid sleeping and returns to the hide warehouse to collect their money. On the way back to the hotel, he is beaten, robbed and left for dead. Merline Morris helps him to her home and tends to his injuries. He doesn't know who the men are who robbed him, but he did hear one name and recalls two voices. Having recovered enough to make his own way, he sets out on a very different kind of hunt that will change the course of his life.
