Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
An introduction to composer and trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith's latest ensemble: the Great Lakes Quartet. A true super group, it includes legends saxophonist/flutist Henry Threadgill and drummer Jack DeJohnette. The quartet is completed by another master, bassist John Lindberg. Smith composed an extended new work for each of the five lakes that comprise the Great Lakes, and a sixth, Lake St. Clair, which is dedicated to a smaller lake in the region, and to saxophonist Oliver Lake.
