Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

Created originally as a compilation from a six-year-old to cheer up a terminally ill friend, this album later made its way to the folks at Putumayo, from whose releases the music had originally been culled. After getting the full studio treatment, the whole compilation has been released as a benefit disc for Make a Wish Foundation. The songs are, essentially, all available on other Putumayo Kids releases, but there's a mix given here without regard to place of origin or style. Instead, the focus is on the fact that all of the pieces are cheerful-sounding, bouncing numbers. There's a bit of Cape Verdean song to open, followed by an aboriginal rendition of "Waltzing Matilda" titled "Nyangi Matilda" that works relatively well. A French chanson/café song precedes Desmond Dekker's sublime "Jamaica Farewell." The album finishes with a nice children's song from Colombia and a bouncing motivational piece from bluesman Eric Bibb. Interspersed throughout the album are bits of information on the pieces from Skyler Pia, the young creator of the compilation. The real reason to hear the album, though, is, of course, the music. All of the six pieces here are worth hearing on their own, but they should make a good, fun album for kids to hear over and over again. ~ Adam Greenberg
