Recognizing their leader, Kit speaks with him. The terms are simple. If the wagon train turns around and goes back, the chief will guarantee their safety. But if they continue on, there will be a fight. The people are determined to keep going. Outnumbered and out-skilled, they find themselves in a struggle for survival.
