Dissertation note: Meet Cesar Chavez. He was a Mexican-American farmworker and civil rights activist. As a young boy, he had to work hard alongside his parents and siblings picking crops for other farmers. His family was very poor. Cesar never forgot how hard the work was--or how unfairly pickers were treated. As an adult, he fought to improve the lives of all farmworkers in America.
