Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
Nominated for ten Tony Awards including Best Musical, Something Rotten! is a musical comedy set in 1595 about brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom striving to compete in a theater industry that includes William Shakespeare. The show opened at the St. James Theatre on April 22, 2015 with music and lyrics by Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by John O'Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick (screenwriter of James and the Giant Peach and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, among others). The original Broadway cast recording was made April 27 with a cast that included Brian d'Arcy, John Cariani, Heidi Blickenstaff, Brad Oscar, and Christian Borle, who won a Tony for his featured role as Shakespeare. It's highlighted by the big dance number "A Musical," which, with a little help from Nostradamus, is packed with references to modern (to 2015) Broadway hits. ~ Marcy Donelson
