Subject(s): Genre/Form: Summary: There was once a rich and powerful king who lived with his son in a magnificent castle high on a hill in the middle of his kingdom. All around the castle was a beautiful apple orchard surrounded by high stone walls. The trees in this orchard were unique and amazing, and produced apples of pure, dazzling crystal. The king, being loving and generous, wanted to share them with everyone in his kingdom. He sent out messengers to every town and village square to announce that every person who would kneel before him and ask would receive a precious crystal apple to be their very own forever. A man named Mr. Allman desperately wanted a crystal apple, but he did not trust the king. He thought the gift was a trick to trap him into serving the king forever. So he made a plan to creep into the orchard, and steal a crystal apple. But, the king spied him in the act and called him out by name! Mr. Allman ran away in fear of punishment. The king sent his son the prince out to speak to Mr. Allman, and bring him a gift. Will Mr. Allman trust the prince?
