Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
A troubled inner-city teen turns to track in order to escape a life of crime, enlisting the aid of a legendary former coach to train him for a race that could pave the path to a brighter future. Drew (Kelly Blatz) is a good kid whose single mother (Kim Basinger) never had the time to raise him, and whose older brother (Cam Gigandet) is on the road to nowhere. When Drew resorts to running drug payments in order to get by, it starts to look like he, too, will become a victim of his own desperation. Meanwhile, as a concerned classmate (Analeigh Tipton) reaches out to Drew, his natural athleticism catches the eye of an ex-coach (Richard Jenkins) who's fallen on hard times. Eventually, the coach agrees to help shape Drew into a world-class runner. Just when it starts to look as if Drew has finally earned his ticket out of the city, however, a sudden tragedy threatens to take away everything he's worked so hard to achieve. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
